Whale watching -- am i too late?

Hi all,
I'd like to get to Samana this coming weekend to check out the whales... am I too late being that I'd get there on sat mar 18? Are the whales on time in leaving the Samana area or, like most dominicans are they usually late (don't beat me up, I'm dominican! hehehe) ?

Usually is through 15 March, but sometimes if there are plenty of whales the trips will continue for a week or so more. See http://dr1.com/travel/special/whales.shtml for whale contact.

For the whale-watching trips, it is best to overnight in Samana.

Is it true that thick-ankled tour rep ladies are employed as decoys early in the season?
