My husband recently visited the DR. He saw for sale: king, queen, twin mattresses but no DOUBLE mattresses for sale. Are there any, and if so where, and any idea how much for mattess? how much for box spring?

From my experience they are called full size. When I ordered two twins and a double mattress, they actually just indicated the size in centimetres without calling it a double bed.

They are indeed called full size, just bought one in Montellano for 6500 pesos
No box spring available at that store.

There are mattresses from around 5000 pesos ( crap ) up to around 20.000 RDS.
A descent one is around 17.000 in my opinion.

I just bought a King size mattress here in El Seybo, had to special order it, and it cost me 10,500. They don't seem to have the box springs for a King so it mounts on 2 Full size side by side. Total price 14,500.

Actually,"Kings" Mount on Two "TWIN" Box Springs!

I have two King Size beds. One is a "Simmons",imported from the US with two twin box springs.Bought it 11 years ago at "La National" on C/Duarte for about a "Grand" US! I weigh about 400 lbs. It is still in good shape, even if I am not!! The other is a Dominican brand "La Reina" which I have about 10 in smaller sizes. It is Very Very Good! My "La Reina" King,is mounted on a "platform" so there is no need for a box spring.I have it in my "Bachelor Pad".Although it is not used that frequently ANYMORE! It has held up under EXTREME USE,up to five people,in the past!!
