ok so to qualify for residence, how much money would i need to have in a DR bank account?

in addition, would i actually need to invest that money or is the presence of the money in a DR bank account satisfactory?

Economic solvency

Your personal assets are not longer important for this issue.
According to the latest information leaflet of the Migration department you will need a guarantor who has economic solvency. This person -before a Dominican notary public- will have to sign two legal instruments:

- Carta de garant?a firmada por una persona solvente Dominicana o con residencia permanente mediante la cual se responsabiliza respecto a las condiciones morales y econ?micas, los gastos de manutenci?n y repatriaci?n si fuera necesario, hecha ante un notario p?blico y legalizada en la Procurador?a General de la Rep?blica
- Declaraci?n jurada de solvencia del garante firmada por ?ste y dos testigos hecha ante un notario p?blico y legalizada en la Procuradur?a General de la Rep?blica acompa?ada de las pruebas: Carta de banco, patente de negocio, certificado de t?tulo etc.

x A guarantee letter (affidavit of support) signed by a Dominican or permanent resident who is solvent (financially reliable) indicating they take responsibility for the moral and economic conditions (of the individual), living expenses and repatriation if necessary, made before a notary public, and legalized in the General Procuratorship of the Republic.

- Declaraci?n jurada de solvencia del garante firmada por ?ste y dos testigos hecha ante un notario p?blico y legalizada en la Procuradur?a General de la Rep?blica acompa?ada de las pruebas: Carta de banco, patente de negocio, certificado de t?tulo etc.

x Sworn statement of solvency (financial reliability) guarantor signed by the same (person) and two witnesses, made before a notary public, and legalized in the General Procuratorship of the Republic which is accompanied by proof: bank letter, business patent, title certificates, etc.
