In the north coast, in addition to the suggested Isabel de Torres mountain and its botanical garden on the top, we suggest two other walks... Damajagua and Parque Nacional El Choco.
The Damajagua Falls (you will need to be prepared to also jump in water), about 20 minutes from Puerto Plata city; and the Natural Monument Cabarete (better known as Parque Nacional El Choco), that offers tropical jungle walks, and visits to caves. The caves are the result of geological formations known as Caribbean karsts that are found inr elatively flat landscapes and are made up of sinkholes, sinkhole ponds, disappearing streams, crystal clear springs and underground caverns often filled with waters. The area is popular with horseback riders that venture into the park to observe the tropical fruit plants and the vast variety of birds.
