On the other side of town at POLA on Bartolom? Col?n and Supermercado Nacional and Price Smart on Estrella Sadhal?

They just opened Las Colinas Mall and I have not been there. Perhaps they will have shops that can supply what you need. You will have to shop and compare, that is for sure.

Hi Canadian Bob, from Puerto Plata, take Rte 5 to Navarette. Turn left and take the autopista to Santiago, arriving at the northwest corner of the city. The autopista ends at a circle. Turn right at the circle. This becomes 27 de Febrero (if you keep straight, you would be on Estrella Sadhala). Go a mile or so, passing a Republic Bank on the right, then a Texaco and McDonald's on the left. Go down a hill. At the stoplight at the bottom of the hill, Las Colinas Mall will be on your left.

(Other posters please help here--here's what I would do). Make a U-turn at the light, then take the first right into the parking lot in front of the mall on 27 de Febrero. When my wife and I went to the mall a few months ago, we drove all the way around it, but found no other open parking lots. That may have changed by now.

Hope this helps, Bob

I had some time to kill one day when my gf was getting her hair done, so i drove into santiago to a store I know, and thought to go to the big grocery store called NATIONAL something to buy some food for the house. It is pretty close to the gran almirante casino with the eleveated highway right in front of it. It is a huge grocery store by DR standards and looks just like a big A&P... but the prices are outrageous by DR standards!... they border on rediculous. Those prices certainly keep out the rift raft! ha ha ha.... a big hunk of dominican cheese in the red wrapper about as big a grapefruit or so was 250 pesos....I think it would be something like 125 pesos at some local bodega. a box of banana nut cereal was 350 pesos I think!!!!!!!!

But it's ok to spend $288 on a Helicopter tour!
That's pretty funny.

I only buy imported cheese, The Dominican cheese resembles silly putty.

I find Supermercado Nacional has the highest quality meats and imported cheeses for the best prices. If you like Silly Putty, the corner Colmado does have better prices.

To each his own.

My favorite spot to buy groceries in Santiago is El Pola. It has the best prices around by far.

Just go at lunch time. Every Dominican is eating and there are no customers.
