mosquito and bug repellent and lots of sun screen that is prepared for perspiring. If you will be in La Romana, check out the Bayahibe town area from where hte excursions to Saona leave. Enjoyed a milk shake and a capuccino at the Cafe de la Cubana last Monday (a holiday). If you can, take advantage of snorkeling trips, catamaran trip to Saona that will stop at Palmilla to see sea stars, didn't care for the sand bar trip...

The above link will take you to the resort map of Casa Del Mar. One of the things I liked was the layout, everything was so convenient. There is walking but not a lot, it is a very intimate resort.
