Unless you are in the Military a 9 mm or 38 handgun is the largest caliber allowed. You can only purchase one handgun legally with a license if you are a civilian. You will need a permanent residence or citizenship to do this. You can also legally own a rifle or shotgun also. I believe only a 22 or 25 rifle is legal here.

Yes. Any real rifle is off limits unless you have a military exemption. Reason is that after the April war of 65 the American military pushed to have laws written that would restrict personal firepower. Basically, no 45s, no rifles using centerfire ammunition.
