I'm looking for a company that will ship a partial container load of personal items from Miami to Santo Domingo. My mother is moving down to the DR where I live and she doesn't need a full container load. All the companies I've called only sell a full container for these type of items.

The problem is that clearing the personal goods could take longer than other commercial cargo it could be packed with, plus the freight brokerage needs to attach a value and a shipping code to every piece in your shipment.

Depending on how much you have to ship, either go with a 20' container just with your possessions inside, or if it really isn't more than a palletload (4' x 4' x 4') then you could also check out sending via air cargo.

A 20' container would run about $1200-1500 to ship here. 800 lbs/ 4 x 4 x 4 of air cargo would probably run about $1000-1200.

It will definitely save $$ if you are cold-blooded and not sentimental when moving here. Most stuff in life is just that. Stuff.

Good luck.

Full container for $1500 or less -- where???

If I could get a 20' container for $1000-1500 that is a different story. All the quotes I have gotten have been around $2500. Where did you get those prices?

You can also contact a company to ship your items door to door. It usually ends up being more cost effective and quicker, as you don't have to worry about the cost and hassle to clear customs, since it will be included in the up-front price.
