Two candidates, two different styles...
The most voted candidate was Pelegr?n Castillo (son of Vincho), a highly respected lawyer, re-elected as Congressman (Diputado) for Santo Domingo DN. Pelegr?n Castillo is reknown for distributing absolutely nothing among voters. And the second most voted was Radames Ramos Garc?a, popularly known as El Chino, nickname obtained when he was tried and convicted for smuggling Chinese nationals through Haiti), re-elected as Congressman for La Vega. A La Vega resident told me that the night before election, El Chino had set up hundreds of sancocho lines in the poor neighborhoods of La Vega. He is also known by driving into these poor neighborhoods with full container loads of stuff and distributing them freely...
