Are there any Vespa dealerships in the DR yet?

When I searched for this, several of the threads appeared to be too old to access. I realize that I may soon be too old to access as well, but until that point, I think I want to drive a Vespa in the DR. With a helmet of course.

There was one for a very short time...
I bought one of their models (classic body, 150 cc, made in INDIA) at a very good price (I should have bought ten...).

http://www.vespausa.com/products/px150-splash.cfm

I have hardly ever used it, a shame really.

Parts can/could be bought at:
Frías Hnos.
Francisco Villaespesa No. 51/A
Ens. Villa Juana
S.D.

thanks and...

are you repairing/maintaining it yourself? If not, is it a mystery to local mechanics or is it pretty easy to figure out?

Ostriches, frogs? A veritable menagerie. In the event Vnce is suggesting that Senor Frog had previously stuck his head in the sand and disappeared from this blog, (which I vaguely remember) there's nothing like a Vespa to get the juices flowing again. Try it, you'll like it.

And you don't even have to be Italian, nor have a cigarette dangling from your mouth. A Campari and soda waiting for you after your ride helps though.

Has anyone seen or driven the new model that Vespa brought out sometime in the past two years in Italy? It supposedly has the same small wheels, and the same look of other Vespas, but is rated to go to a top speed of 130 mph+.

If so, HOW MUCH, and WHERE CAN I GET ONE???

Can you imagine me, a fat old gringo, competing with those 'flyboys' riding souped-up motores out in the middle of nowhere at maximum speeds?? ( I mean the dominicanos who lay down on their seat with their legs hanging backwards, and then go down the carretera as if they are Peter Pan flying)

The top speed on a Ninja ZX6r is about 150+ That's 600cc of Jap Muscle:cool: I think the top speed on a Vespa is about 43- mph. Oh yeah, there's a Vespa party in NYC coming up, enjoy!http://nyscooterclub.com/new-york-scooter-blockparty-06/

Here is the Vespa X-9, manufactured by Piaggio. As spec'd, top speed is 98 mph. Says it has a 460 cc engine producing 39 bhp, and priced at US$6300. What do you think, could someone juice this up to hit 125mph, and also add a defensa / cowcatcher for me? (just in case an ostrich runs out in front of me).

"Holy Cubic Centimeters Bat-Man" That fukker is FAST!!! Yes it definitely can be tweaked to obtain a death-defying top speed of 125mph!! Oh yeah checking those specs, weighing in at 469lbs and 460cc. It's a motorcycle dressed in scooter clothing.
