Hi, Hillbilly, if you are out there, can you please post here? Or send me a PM.

Hi, everyone,

I will be in Puerto Plata from the 12th or the 13th to the 18th of August. I am an animal lover and rescuer and wanted to know where any animal shlters or private animal organizations were in Either Santo Domingo, or near Puerto Plata?

I plan on staying in Santiago for one or two days, and I haven't decided if it's better to stay at the hotel, or the in the center of town. the admi has a casino and a pool, but the latter is in the center of the city.

Which one would all of you suggest? The one in the center of town seems enticing because they offer a buffet breakfeast, and it's less expensive. But, for those of you who have been there, you might know better!

Why not stay at HB's Bed & Breakfast?

I believe the name is, "Friends of the Animals of Sosua".

I sent the OP a PM with news on Noelle's efforts in POP (QEPD) and the fact that I have seen nothing here to that end....dogs are just animals in the DR ...for most people that is.

Hillbilly Bed & breakfast/cigar factory trip

I stayed in DR in easter 2006 and the set up that Hillbilly has for Bed & breakfast looks very good. I did a trip to Santiago and it was great - especially cigar tour organised by HB. Hillbilly is a real gentleman and will look after you. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Also Hillbilly helped me get a good deal on cigars.
