I was wondering if anyone has been successful planting a vegetable garden?

In particular, my questions are:

- Can you grow the same vegetables as in Canada/US year round in the DR?
- Are there some things that grow better than others
- Does anyone know where in Puerto Plata you could rent a rototiller (sp?)
and if so what the cost would be to rent for a day?
- Does anyone know where in Puerto Plata you could go to buy seeds or gardening tools & supplies?

Thanks

Tomatoes, potatoes, onions, corn, chives, mint, peppers (hot & sweet) & mostly all spices grow well, I have not seen rhubarb. Try Ferriteria Brugal in PP for gardening tools. Rototillers are called Haitians in the DR. They will move rocks, "cultivate" soil, etc. Test the ph of the soil & modify it accordingly. Composting is good.Canadian Bob.
