$10 usd for the tourist card cash only
the departure tax is included if you're flying on a US airline, most of the others charge the departure tax at the gate

It's not relevant to the OP's question, but it does not need to be dollars, they're happy with €10 (euros) cash as well.

Sure they're happy that you gave them the equivalent of US$12.50 in Euros to pay a US$10 tax. They made $2.50 as acting as the cambio. I'm sure he had a US$10 bill handy to substitute for your 10 Euro.

Yes, everybody happy. Changing euros for dollars costs money too, and many rather pay the equivalent of $2,50 to save time and hassle. It makes more sense than to go get dollars you only need at the airport.

Departure tax

Why did it cost me $20.00 US when I left in February this year?

Did they change the rates?

1. it's $10 if you stay more than 30 days, if you stay less and pay you got ripped off.

2. $10 is not a lot of money to carry around, unless you are carrying it in pennies

3. what's the real story?
