Or the others got a tan. Maybe Mia is not a fan of the sun. A tanned body looks so much nicer. As long as it is not red.

To tell the truth, I wouldn't have even noticed if she wasn't standing among Ms. Puerto Rico, Ms. Mexico, and Ms. Nicaragua. Maybe they're some photos of her standing next to Ms. Argentina and Ms. USA, who knows?

It's Cultural!
My point isn't about the physical, it's about the cultural. Shared language (Spanish) and geography (Americas/Caribbean) doesn't necessarily translate to shared beliefs.
There's a physical as well as cultural reason why Ms. Taveras is representing the DR.

That is true. It is mostly the dark Dominicans that do not like to be out in the sun so much....
