Horrendous Hispaniola Hotel
I was at the Hispaniola Hotel June 28th to July 5th. The hotel was horrendous.
When I checked in the Front Desk clerk tried to double charge me for the room. My purchase was made through Orbitz, and the clerk insisted that Orbitz just reserves the room, "they do not handle the money end of it". I had to show him my confirmation sheet to prove to him that Orbitz already charged me for the room. He smirked and turned to my fiance and said to her in Spanish, that's not the way it works and turned to another clerk and said "you handle this".
The bellboy then took my fiance and I to the room. The elevator was a manual pull gate elevator. When it stops...hold on it stops on a dime! The hallway was dim and I would say hald the lights in the hallway were not working. The smell was of stale cigars and mold.
When I entered the room the bellboy rapidly told me where everything was located. I asked where I can get the safe key and he told me, at the front desk.
After he left this is what I found, the bath tub was severely cracked, the terrrace slide window would not open, there was no remote for the televison which didn't matter because the TV did not work, the air conditioner would not go higher than low speed, the bed springs were shot, the carpet was severely stained, one lamp was bad and according to the clerk at the desk the key to the safe was lost.
I transfered three times and settled for the best of the worst. When I spoke to the hotel manager to complain he did not acknowledge me but rather transfered me to a supervisor.
Also evertime we left the room in the morning we hung on the doorknob the "please clean room" sign. When we came back we noticed the sign turned around which says "Do not disturb". We entered the room and the room was untouched. I inquired with other guests and they said they had the same problem. I could go on with the bad points but I think enough is said. PLEASE look else where if you go to SD. This hotel should be condemmed!
I am sure you will see this hotel turn in to one big parking lot if this service continues.
