Comments from any one who's ever stayed here? Also, any Casino's within walking distance?

Valero Beach is in Cabarete, not sure exactly where, but closest casino would be the Ocean Sands on the eastern end of town on the main road south (opposite of beach) side.

Comfortable and private. On the expensive side for Cabarete.

I don't think there is a casino in Cabarete. Someone can correct me.

For gambling, Playa Dorada is better as there are several casinos there to choose from.

Breezes is between Cabarete and Sosua and has a nice sized casino. You would need a cab or Gua Gua to get there, a 7 minute ride. Ocean Sands is indeed quite nice and new, but it is missing one thing, people. I went in there last trip and I counted 3 players literally.

Yes, there is a casino in Cabarete

It is brand new and only had the grand opening last Spring. In my estimation it is easy walking distance from the Velero.

Velero is first rate. We've stayed there several times. Very clean, well managed, and the best location in Cabarete. The Ocean Sands Casino is about a three minute walk.

The Velero is beautiful. The rooms, grounds, pool, etc are all beautiful and well kept. The 3 bedroom penthouses are truly remarkable. A bit pricey though, as mentioned, but by far the nicest place in Cabarete and/or Sosua. Also, as mentioned, the Ocean Sands Casino is a short walk, clean, beautiful, friendly, but *dead*. Never a problem getting a table or drink though :)
