He does not need a visa. In the condo where I live, owners come for more months than that and don't have a visa. There are posters on this board who live in the DR who don't have residency or a visa. They pay the small fee that is charged, when it is charged, when they leave to go to their own country for a visit.

Maybe in future it will be wise to have a visa, but not now.

Dolores recently posted a list of fees for overstaying. Do a search for her posts and you will find it within the past few months, as I recall.

It may be dated but they will try to collect whatever. My wife and I stayed 15 days last May and when we were passing through aduanas in STI right in front of the big sign that says "Do not pay any money here" or something to that effect, the custom agent tried to get 500 RD. I gave him 300rd very loudly and he let us pass.

So you "loudly" gave the agent a $RD300 Peso propina!
Why did you read the sign and disobey it?

You are supposed to pay at that little counter on the right and get a receipt, before you proceed to immigration.
