Amount of pesos at ATM's

I think it is mostly 10,000 pesos. Some only allow 5,000 but I could not tell you which ones.

I use a National City ATM card and withdraw 10,000RDP every time I use a Dominican ATM. Costs $1.50USD and my exchange rate is within a penny of published rates.

My impression is that most allows only 5000 pesos. Banco del Progreso in Sosua allows 40.000 pesos in one transaction. I always use that one when I'm using my Visa card. I have a local account in Banco Santa Cruz, and that only allow 5000 in one transaction.

Whenever I need a few extra of Pesos, like 30,000, I use my ATM card inside the bank and take a CASH advance against my checking account. You do need an original passport as ID.

Since I used my Visa/DEBIT card my home bank does not treat it as as an advance and just a regular withdrawal and therefore NO FEE.

I believe the only fee involved is a 1% "international currency" fee which was built into the rate, I got 32.25 recently, in July, including the vig.

Dave, Dominican Greg here, also known as Boca Chica Greg, My wife and I use a Visa debit check card regularly during the year, on the 7th of August we got 32.37 per US dollar. The exchange rate looked to be around 32.5 posted on here in casa de cambios. The past year or so, the ATM rates I receive are usually .1 to .2 below the street rate. The only time I have found it beneficial, other than for convenience matters, is when the rates drop fast more than .2 or .3 overnight from cambios. The ATM's are a little slow in making this correction.

I have been able to pull 20,000 pesos out each time to the machine. Good exchange rate as well...Tom

The most that I have tried to pull out at once was 10,000. Normally works at Banco Popular for me.
