Ok Y'all, after not going to DR for over 4 years, I will be there next few for a vacation. I grew up there, but have lived my life here in the US. I was wondering if there are some things that I should know that I should before I go. I will be staying in the colonial area in a local hotel. Does anyone know if there are any particular places to stay away from? any dangerous types I should look out for? any establishments that I should not visit? Any type of thing that I should or should not do?
I am a pretty street smart guy, after all I grew up in the Bronx and I am street smart here in the US. I am also well protected here because as a federal officer I am usually armed, but it never hurts to ask.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

There still is night life in the Colonial City despite the midnight closing time on weeknights and 2 am on weekends and holidays. The Hostos is the main area where there is lots of night spots. Also Meriño. Check out what is happening at Casa de Teatro.
