Dr Richard Domino and his associate Dr. Werr at Clinica Abreau are excellent. They did the hip replacement on my wife. Try to reach them through Clinica Abreu. The cell number I have for Dr. Werr is 809 854 5503. Don't know if it still works.

surgery ASAP

For pain relief, I have personally found acupuncture very effective for rotator pain.

It is torn! Surgery ASAP. If you are not very young it may take a veery long time to heal, if ever heals correctly.
Advise of former pro coach/trainer.

hi, be very careful. i had a torn rotator cuff repair and the success rate is largely dependant on the surgeon. I had mine done here in England by the worlds leading shoulder surgeon who has performed this operation many times & specialises in rotator cuff. He is based in Nottingham and has taught various surgeons worldwide, he operations privately as well as for our national health service. His private secretary may be contactable by email at nottinghams PARK Hospital. Best of luck mate because if i had my choice again i would live with the pain until it subsides and then see what movement you can get without the operation. I have a physical occupation and have many limitations to the reach and strength that i now have in the affected arm.

From personal experience, I know how painful of an injury that is. Like others have said, the results of such an operation depend greatly on the skill of the surgean performing it, as you are dealing with a very complex tissue structure. I would advise you to have it treated in the US if at all possible.

i recently had a similar operation. a detached labia[sp] i think its called..on my right shoulder. i waited 5 years to have it done. maybe for a reason. the surgeon i had did a wonderful job. the secret is in th esurgeon and the rehab to keep a wide range of motion. if i knew this would turn out so well i would have done it sooner. never could sleep on my right side. now no problem..

the guy is in fort lauderdale. if you want his info just pm me. i would recommend him

That would be LABRUM!

Detached LABIA are only present in the women of certain African tribes. Not meant to be funny. Sad but true.

Again, I suggest that the OP get to the US if possible to have this injury diagnosed and treated. The first course of action would be to have a shoulder arthrogram to get a complete look at the shoulder joint capsule and all the related structures. Depending on the severity of the injury and your expected outcome, you and your doctor can decide on a course of treatment, which can be surgery or rehabilitation.

For those that haven't personally experienced this type of injury, I can tell you that it is very painful. I had severe pain, very limited range of motion, and any time that I tried to move my arm at the shoulder, I had the most intense burning sensation that you can imagine. I visited 3 surgeons before I found one that I felt comfortable with, and it took a very long time and a lot of hard rehab work before I was able to gain full range of motion and strength.

Detached labia? Sounds like it's well detached if it migrated all the way to the shoulder.
I agree with Tar Heel on Acu-puncture. Being a pin cushion is sort of weird but it has helped me with an impingement issue on my shoulder. Rotator cuff is a lot more serious so it may not work.
I sure would be careful about surgery here, there or anywhere.
