Those of us that live here are well aware that racism is alive and kicking, along with classicism etc. It's part of life here and it's not going to change anytime soon, that's for sure.
The guy got turned away at the door for whatever reason. Don't like your shoes, private party, your not white enough, whatever. It happens here, in Miami, London, Rio, all over the world. Racism and discrimination is part of life, so let's not single this out as a Dominican trait or problem.
