Re: What's popular with locals?

Just got back from Mao. We gave gifts to our sponsored child: toys, such as Play Dough, paints, and Spanish childrens books were big hits, but our child's favorite was the baseball mitt. For his mother, we bought clips for her hair, perfume, and a pretty blouse. His father received a Manny Ramirez jersey. The baby girl received a Hispanic Cabbage Patch baby doll and adored it. These were such basic gifts, but to them, they were gold and very much appreciated. That's why I loved the Dominican people so much. It taught me a lesson about what I take for granted each day. Anything you would give would be very appreciated. Have a great time!
