All the time you want if you pay the fines for overstaying your 15 day tourist visa!
Do a search here on the rate...reallynot much...maybe US$20 for a 6 month stay?

I can't say I understand what you mean by " do a search here for the rate"
I gather you are saying that for $20.00 you can stay for up to 6 months?

Driver's License

But be aware that your driver's license is only good for 15 days!

Really,

And what will happen after??? Anything special to do??

Kind of a catch 22. Carry your US lic and get a international lic from AAA back in the states. the DR is one of the countries that recognize it as al legal lic and is good for year. To get a DR lic is difficult and you need you cedula 9residency papers) which can take 6 months or more to get. Better yet don't get stopped.....

I went to the Dominican Consulate in Montr?al this afternoon to buy our tourist card and I talked with the Consul. Everybody on DR1 say the tourist card is good for 15 days and the Canadian Foreign Affairs site says 30 days. The Consul told me it's 30 days but it seems that the Dominican Government did not ajust the ''Impuesto for ...'' that's why it starts '' 15 d?as a 3 meses. The tax $$ (impuesto) stays the same though (sorry I don't like the term fine).

As someone said before on another thread, the international lic. from AAA doesn't give you the right to drive for a longer period of time. It's only a traduction of your driver license in different languages.

I don't think the law has been changed regarding ''your'' license it's good for 90 days.

Oups.. I must add: as long as your tourist card is valid ??? The tourist card if valid for 30 days if you stay longer you have to ask for a pr?rroga instead of paying the tax for overstaying when you depart the D.R.
