According to an article in today's Listin. What do you people think? Wouldn't that cause confusion should the new name translates into other languages? I mean, people do get confused between Dominica and Dominican Republic...

Rather than change the name to Dominicana how about some other possibilities:

Damelia
Apagonia
Ladronia
Jeepetia
Caloria

While I can agree with the idea of "Dámelamía", the name will never be changed.

Why?

Because it was consecrated by the Trinitarios in their oath and by the Dominican flag. It will always be "La República Dominicana" .

FYI, IMO Chavez changed the name because it used to be the United States of Veneuela...get my drift??? As a dictator he can do anything he wants.
