I have looked in the Santo Domingo area and I can't find a good hat for my golf. Any suggestions?
Personally I prefer to use the regulation Golf CLUBS & Balls rather than hats!!!

What sort of 'HAT' did you have in mind? Something with a decent sized brim? Leather? Lightweight "Greg Norman" style? I picked up one of those (Sp) Negechi Moriana felt hats for just RD $250 & that does me quite well!! Found a street seller here in Puerto Plata one day & 'discussed' the price I was prepared to pay!! If you are in Sto Dgo & all else fails, ring up FedoGolf & see who they recommend in Sto. Dgo!! ~ Grahame.

Where do you play golf? I can't believe there could possibly be a course (including most miniature and pitch and putt golf courses) anywhere that doesn't have a pro-shop that sells golf hats. At a bare minimum they would at least have hats with the golf course's logo.

Hatitat for Humanity

A guy plays golf.
He asks about finding a hat.!..?
A guy plays golf.
He asks about.....
What's next, the shoes and socks?
You guys wanna dress this guy, or what?
OK...
Get you a little pair of BVD briefs to put on
after you shi..shower and shave.
Put on your little Izod shorts, your Greg Norman
shirt, your Nike socks, some Comfo cleats,
put your palos de golf from Taylor Made in
your Calloway bag with the huge BigBertha driver
and the Ping putter, add some Nike superlong drive
balls and jump in the EZ Go cart and, don't forget the
pencil from the starter for the scorecard! Find the
#1 tee, down your first Presidente of the day, tell
your buds the latest joke you've heard, light cigar,
wait until second tee to divulge source of same,
make excuse for your first hole triple bogey, comment on the
your last 'bitch' adventure (hopefully last night),
stay mysterious about your income sources,
ask "where the fu.." is the drink cart after the 3rd hole
and by then, you should know definitiviely where to
find your stupid hat that you simply could not find
previously in this golf-happy country. Is that simple or
what? See ya at the 19th hole compadre, or not !

Comfo Cleats??

"Comfo Cleats"?? I've heard of the rest but never Comfo Cleats.
"Bare minimum". Ive heard of that. When I was at Playa Dorado in '99 I played golf with a couple from Belgium who were naturalist back home. They had a second home at a naturalist area in France that had a four hole golf course. I asked what the wore when playing. Answer, "cleats". She was stunningly gorgeous. Sorry I was playing in the DR and not in France.

Hats

I didn't think a golf hat would intice such reactions!

OK, let's make it a beach hat! OK, just let me know how much a good beach hat --let's say one with one of those elastic inside-- cost in your DR area?

I am curious to see what comments I get from this one!

Mr. Edwards,
Glad you have a sense of humor.
Refreshing. A decent elastic-banded hat should cost you
around USD $6-10, all kidding aside.
The Pro Shops at local courses, the good ones, cost about
$15-$20 USD with adjustable straps, etc. with local logo.
They are worth the cost and are good quality, something you
can wear back home for years to come. Courses here are the
BEST in the Caribbean, bar none. For me, Playa Grande on the
north coast beats the pants off Pebble Beach, and at half the price.
You want tough? Try Teeth of the Dog at La Romana (Casa del Campo).
Smooth, mature? Robert Trent Jones designed course in Playa Dorada
in Puerto Plata. New? Untested? Try the new Jack N. designed course
in Cap Cana, just opened. Fun? Try the Metro course in Juan Dolio just west of the capital of Santo Domingo....the variety is endless here. Enjoy.

Golf Hats

Tflea,

Thanks for your reply. Are you talking about caps or proper hats, like Panama hats you find at golf courses stores/

Thanks,

ED

Give credence to tflea on the subject of hats. Those that are follicularly challenged usually know their hats.;)

Pro shops are of course more pricey, but at a department-style
store I bought a pretty nice straw number for RD$695, Not G.Norman
style, a little smaller brim...about $21. 'Gimme caps' are around $6-$10 but can be more at the course shops. All kinds of hats available at department stores and others.
