Don't quite know where to post this, but there is no DR Public Relations forum on which to address the country's image.
On last night's wildly popular Law and Order-SVU episode, the bad guy (a murderous pimp) simply told the good guys that he "was going to the Dominican" and "you can't touch me".
There were several references to "weak extradition laws" and the overall implication was that criminals' first thought in NY to escape justice is to "take a Dominican vacation."
Despite the fact that the good guys nabbed him before he got to fly to the DR, there was a very obvious image of his packed suitcases by the door when they finally got him. You have to wonder, to the highly suggestible American travelling public, what message re: the DR they took away from this episode.
Talk about bad product placement.
