If its years now, how long was the process before? Also how many dominicans are applying now to go to USA, Canada, EU? What is the acceptance ratio?

I don't know the answer to all of your questions but I do know this. The US Immigration service has a lottery every year where people from countries that don't have a high percentage rate of being admitted into the US every year get a chance to get a visa. I know that the Dominican Republic has consistantly been ineligible for this lottery due to the high number of admittances from that country. I don't know what the percentages are of acceptance vs. non-acceptance but I think the fact that DR is usually on the lottery ineligible list says that a lot of DR folks are successfully and legally getting into the country each year.

When the process was running "normal" you could expect 3-6 months to get your Dominican(a) here.

Last figure I heard on Dominican immigration to the US was 150,000 per year.

Only about 3% of the visas are denied initially, with another 2% getting theirs on appeal.

This is only for the USA, I don't know about Canada or the EU.

The process takes 20-24 months right now.

There are 791,600 Dominicans in the US as of the year 2004.
Compare that to 8,544,600 Mexicans, 1,594,600 Chinese, 1,244,200 Indians, or 1,413,200 Filipinos.

Sorry I meant 150,000 Dominicans over the last five years. The average number of Dominicans immigrating each year is 24,900 between 2000 and 2004. Compare that to 175,900 Mexicans each year, 50,900 Chinese, 59,300 Indians, or 47,800 Filipinos.

Statistics are from the 2004 Yearbook of Immigrant Statistics, US Census Bureau.

It is indeed very difficult for Dominicans to emigrate to the US. Try it and see. I did. My wife is here for about 7 months now. It took me 20 months total. It's NOT easy.
