3 of us from Puerto Plata are going tonight. I will let you know tomorrow what it was like and post photos!

The only slight glitch in reserving was they kept asking us to bring an ID card. Took a bit to get them to understand there is no ID card...... But we are good now.

We have just returned from Ocean World and we had a wonderful evening.

Tomorrow I will do a full report and post photos - in the meanwhile it is worth the price of admission. THey are still fine tuning, finishing construction and doing training. The ambiance is amazing, the food is excellent, the show is the best I have seen on this island and the casino is looking good!

Of course there is lots to be done but I have to say we were very impressed!!!

Trip Review

We went on Saturday night to the Casino. We started with glasses of wine on the terrace overlooking the new marina on one side and a beautiful swimming pool on the other. You can see the pictures below. There were 3 huge yachts in the marina but the photos did not turn out.

We went inside as it started to spit rain and helped ourselves to a fabulous buffet dinner. There was lots to choose from and in my opinion is superiour to almost all the hotel buffets on the North Coast. The prime rib was excellent and my 2 friends both enjoyed the lobster. There was also chicken, fish, multiple salads and all the trimmings. The cauliflower in cream sauce was excellent.

I rarely find really good desserts here but the mocha cake was so good I wish I had saved more room for it.

We should have seen both the dolphin and the sea lion shows. Due to the heavy rains this was not possible, but we will receive the opportunity to go see the shows during the day. This will be the normal way of handling bad weather cancellations of this part of the evening.

We went and checked out the casino floor and it is nicely done as well!

I was a little hesistant about the Bravissima show. I have seen far too many hotel shows to get excited. I was wrong. This show is stunning, from the lighting to the costumes to the dancing. It is really well done. We all enjoyed it. The show sticks to this country's latino roots and is strongly performed. Lots of scantily clad, Vegas style show girls to keep all the boys entertained too.

Then we went back to the casino to check it out along with most of the guests who saw the show.

This is a work in progress as there is still much to be done on the premises! But, based on what I saw, tasted and experienced, I would not hesitate to recommend this evening.

We asked a number of questions and got really good answers. Like what would be done in case of rain (then it rained and we found out) Could someone just come to the show and then the casino? Yes the price will be $35 US and they suggest you book in advance as it is on a space available basis. Yes you can just come to the casino. And yes you can come and enjoy the pool and swim up bar during the day as long as you are eating and or drinking. The swim up bar also serves sandwiches, hamburgers etc.

We checked out the menu at Posieden the a la carte restaurant. Entrees ran from $17 to $30 US, not too bad at all considering the ambiance. I will go back and try it out another night.

All in all, a great evening!
