Forgive my ignorance, HB, but what are the holidays called on January 21st and August 16th. Refresh my memory, please.
Thank you,
Marlie

I'm not HB, but I'm pretty sure they're Día de la Altagracia and Día de la Restauración.

Do I win anything? :)

Earlier last year we did our breakdown of holidays, including those that convert to long weekends. This page also looks into semi-holidays, or those that are celebrated as holidays without being holidays.

Of course there are others that are celebrated here, but only very few get days off -- like Thanksgiving. Supermarkets and restaurants will advertise their turkey eating options, and some English language schools will give the day off, but that's about it, so that one we do not list here.
