I can not get a flight into Puerto Plata (POP) airport....so I'm flying into Punta Cana (frequent flyer miles ticket takes me there).

If I take a taxi (RS Taxi?), how long will the drive be? And about how much?

I'm traveling with a wife and luggage...so not going to do a bus...

Any other ideas? Oh, I land at 3:35 pm...which means by the time I get through baggage, customs, etc...the rental car desk will be closed. Otherwise I'd just do that...

Thanks in advance for your help!

John,

Welcome to DR1. It would be my suggestion to take a bus rather then a taxi unless the price is not important to you. Also, with the hour you are arriving it would probably put the bus trip out of the question and therefore require a taxi if your Sosua arrival time must be made on the same day. The reason I say this is because of the travel time involved, regardless of which mode of transportation, but the added problem of insuring a bus from Santo Domingo to Sosua at the hour you would arrive there.

I have inclosed some links for you to read.

You might be able to catch a small plane to POP. Ask your travel agent, or check on arrival in Punta Cana. They do have some flights to POP. Forty minutes beats eight hours by car or bus.

Thanks everone....

Thank you, everyone, for your time and the info.

Taxi is a definite over bus. RS Taxi just quoted $295.

If I can get a flight into SDQ, then the car rental places stay open later...and the taxi fare is only about $130.

Again...thank you for your help.

Merry Christmas...

There are flights from PUJ to POP.($130 US approx.)
I think the last one is near 5 PM.
Apotropheman should know.
You could PM him, if he doesn't respond.

keithf nailed it. the price has increased again but still a good deal, even for 2 vs a taxi. you should have plenty of time to make the connection as they fly from the same airport. it's only an hour long flight and quite pleasant.
