Exchanging Money

Where is the best place to exchange money in the DR? Should we exchange money when we get to the airport or wait until we get to the hotel? Are US dollars accepted at hotels, restaurants, for tips?

always bring US dollars travelers checks preferred.. use those litle exchange kiosks which are all over. never hotels or airports they have horrible rates. and shop around they all have different rates.. the posted rates are for cash. they like to apply that same rate for your checks but ask for better , most of them will improve.
