Thumbs up El Leon (Vino Tinto)

I had no idea that Dominicans produced delicious Red Wine in Santo Domingo.

Speaking of wines produced in The DR in this last trip a friend of mine had a bottle of red wine at his house from the "Associacion Vinicola de Neyba"...Not sure if I got the name right. Anyhow, didn't know they were producing wine over there yet. It tasted pretty good. Like "real" wine (kind of like a Concha y Toro Cabernet) not like Moscatel. Hope they continue to improve their techniques and we start seeing some good wines being produced in The DR. I will surely support them...

It sais "IMPORTADO / IMPORTED" in red letters on the lable... so, I would suspect Dominicans might not have produced in Santo Domingo. If they were trying to fool you into believing it was imported it would state "IMPOLTAO".
But there's allways the bottle with the bodybuilder on the lable...

    Default Any takers.......

Guys, I have 2 bottles of Moscatel Caballo Blanco that I have been trying to give away and NONE of my Dominican friends want anything to do with it.

Actually, a friend said to me:

"Since I don't like my wife, give it to me so I can give to her and maybe she can just die after drinking it, you know, she has to control her sugar. That wine is only to be given to people you hate, that's how bad it is".

I think he was kidding. Not about the wine being so bad, but about his wife. I think, hehe.

I think I will send one bottle to AZB and one to Chucky since I LOVE them so much, wahahahahaha!!.

Ps: This Leon have never had "El Leon", but if it's 1% better than Caballo Blanco, it's an improvement!.

If I am not mistaken the picture of the wine bottle was taken at the NY DR1 members party, so bottle would say imported if purchased in New York or somewhere in the US.

I stand corrected A. H.... gotta try this stuff then, for speaking before knowing all the facts.

BTW: Which château is it from? I mean which is the valley with the vineyards?
