    Default Departure Tax

We were at the airport, POP, yesterday. We were informed that tourists will now have to pay a Departure Tax to leave the country. The room has already been built on the 2nd floor. I guess they want to get you coming and going. Has anyone heard what is going on?

    Thumbs up Departure Tax

Whenever we have left the DR after a week or 2, we all had to pay US $20.00 departure tax. This adds up to huge money if you add up the thousands of people paying for this on a daily basis.
The weird thing is, we flew American and for the first time ever, our family of 5 paid nothing and never even went upstairs. It was a jumper flight from POP to San Juan. Don't know why but I saved $100 US that day.

American includes the departure tax in the price of the ticket.
