We have recently bought a lot in a semi-gated community between Sosua and Cabarete. Our plan is to build a 250m2 house. Through Alex Urban of Palm Hills we have been in contact with Thomas Langhart (Sosua) as architect and builder. We would be interested in some feedback. Does somebody know Thomas and/or his work. How about quality, pricing.

Please check if Langhart has a CODIA #. this will indicate his qualifications and his authorization to build, supervise and construct in the Dominican Republic.

otherwise, you will be paying more since he will have to paysome other engineer to sign any plans and then pay bribes to get the necessary approvals.

Just off the top of my head. A lot of foreigners come here to practice their professions but do not go throughthe process of certification. Just because they speak your language does not mean they are properly accredited.

Yeah, I know. The fact that they (Dominicans) may be accredited by CODIA does not necessairly mean that they know what they are doing or that they are honest....so you really have to pick and choose. And buy a lot of MAALOX
