as of 6 days ago yes :)

i imagine they will get fazed out slowly simply by not issuing any more and possibly by not returning any that arrive at banks to circulation.

I did hear that they want to phase out the paper 10 and 20 peso notes. However got a bunch of brand new 20s at the bank last week. The coins are certainlly easier.

Thanks guys -- we're giving a DR briefing to some friends early next week before travelling together on 20 FEB to PPO -- just checking on the current currency ...

some of the small bills i've received appear to be so filthy you want to sanitize yourself after getting them:ermm:

Yeah the smell. From where I'm sitting right now the smell would be very nice to experience -- eight days to Sosua!
