I admit: I've been wrong.
For years I've been predicting that the Dominican currency would devaluate against the 'hard' currencies.
Well, sometimes it did, but at times it didn't.

And at the moment the Dominican Peso (Mind you, money which would not even buy you a chewing gum outside this country...) fares relatively strong.
Here some entries from my cheque book (mm/yy: DR$ / US$):

Of course, in the meantime I have developped my little frog theory, why this MMMoney is so strong... but I'd like to hear from the experts first. ;)

I'm no expert, just long in the tooth  If you want to add to your list, when we arrived in November 1992 it was 12 to the US$. And if Hillbilly joins this thread he can probably tell you when it was 1 for 1.............

It's only been strong against the US dollar, which itself has been week against other "hard" currencies such as the Swiss Franc, British Pound, Australian & Canadian Dollar, etc.

If you compared the peso to other currencies, you'd find it's losing value, just as the US dollar is losing value.

What difference..........

...........does it really make? Things here (in the DR) just keep costing more and more no matter what the peso does against the dollar...........

Isn't it all relative anyway?????
