Juan Dolio and Melia

We are honeymooning at Melia Jan Dolio from May 23rd to May 30th. If anyone can provide info on the hotel and the town it would be greatly appreciated. It is our first time leaving the United States. Thanks!

Hi , sure you will have a great time ....... but don`t expect Juan Dolio to be a town !!!!!!!! Hotels... bars.... restaurants ...... all designed for tourists --- that is all . if you would like to meet people --- have a lot of fun ---- then try San Pedro`s Malecon san Pedro is aprox. 10 miles away .....

possibility of resort weekend stays

yes...do you know of any resorts that allow short notice weekend stays in Juan Dolio?

the beach at juan dolio is ok but is by no means the best in the DR try bayahibe or boca chica be carefull of the sharks ON the beach in boca chica (the two legged type), the excursions are rum runners trip in to the country , saona island you are transported to bayahibe beach then on to a speedboat for saona, this in my opion is the best excursion, white water rafting early morning start.
