I will be visiting Santiago briefly Thursday 17th and would be grateful for advice as to the best book store (if any, with address) to buy English/Dominican Spanish and English/Kreyol learning materials and dictionaries. (Obviously English/Castellano stuff I can buy back in the UK).

I am struggling to post in an internet cafe on a slow line so have not time to search thoroughly.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

If you want Creole-Spanish, I think you might try Cuesta in the Supermercado Nacional.
Another possibility is Thesaurus in Plaza Internacional.

There is no such thing as Dominican Spanish beyond a few phrases and words.
There intellectual tomes by Alba that might help you there. Don't know where to purchase one of those.

Good Luck

Thanks Hillybilly

Kreyol to Spanish would be a struggle for me. Looks like I will have to wait and order English/Kreyol learning materials from Amazon once back in the UK.

I appreciate that there is no such language as Dominican Spanish but there is enough material to fill a sizable book on idiomatic usages and pronunciation. Hope someone writes one soon. Perhaps a DR1 contributor?
