My wife and I are planning a driving trip from Puerto Plata to Punta Cana. The map I have is ok from here to there but Santo Domingo shows only a large red dot. I don't know if the road is marked very well through there or not. Any good maps online that would guide us through Santo Domingo? thanks

As you come into Santo Domingo, follow John F. Kennedy to M?ximo G?mez (where the huge pedestrian bridge is) Turn right. At the major intersection with 27 de Febrero, turn left. Follow the signs to Las Americas or Boca Chica.
Then follow the signs to La Romana, Then follow the signs to Higuey. then follow the signs to Bavaro-Punta Cana. There is a right turn at a light after you leave Higuey proper that is not too well marked, and the light is often not working.
IF you start to come upon signs that do NOT refer to PUNTA CANA you will know to turn around.

Good Luck, it is a beautiful spot.

Stop at T?pico Bonao or Turey on the way down to Santo Domingo.

Lots of nice places to stop on the way to Hig?ey....

Enjoy,,,it is about a 71/2 hour drive with few stops...

Take $30 in coins for the toll leaving Santo Domingo.

Yes, of course. You can do it with what we are calling nickels, dimes or quarters: 5 peso, 10 peso and 25 peso coins.
This happens on the way to the airport.

It should be an easy drive if you leave early.
