Here, in Higuey, we have been in scheduled "apagon" for hours between 6am and 9am. It suited me great as by the time I got up the power was up. This used to be true till beginning of May.
Since then, every other working day the power is shut between 9am and 5-7pm. Oddly, the Edeeste office claims it's because of substation upgrades (to put 24 hour power delivery into effect) but when I call the Edeeste hotline, they come up with a bunch of "averias" and excuses. So I really don't know where the truth is. To me, the "averia" - "issue" seems like a hidden "apagon" - "shut off".
But it really is BAD and I am ****ED OFF (mainly because I am left with no AC during the power non-delivery hours). I am now even thinking of buying a fan (something I have not used for a long time).
If it is true they are working to put 24 hour power, I don't need it! Having no power between 6 and 9 am as was case up till May was OK with me. This sh.t is not! Jodeeste jode mi vida. And by the way, I don't understand what the heck is with the substation and transmission upgrades and repairs. That has to be done in couple of days, not weeks or months! And if they can deliver 21 hours, what miraculous upgrades do they need to do to add 3 more hours? Is it that marginal increase in hour delivery requires disproportionate investments and upgrades? In Edeeste economy, I don't think so! It looks to me like a game with yet-unknown-motives, where clues are hidden and obscure, and where the ones loosing are, as always, we the customers.
