More storms in the South

SO we have confirmed that September is a great month to visit, and that the south gets most of the storms. My next problem is that flights which suit my days off fly out to Punta Cana which limits my choice to the the East and the South Coast. Typical after I found love in cabarete (not with a man but with the village).

So would you recommend the East coast over the south at this time of year?
