I'm feeling dumb, what is RD$? Oh say like RD$1000. I tried to find anything without any luck. I get the Peso thing but have no idea what "RD$" converts to. Just learning, am going there next year. Thanks

$RD is one the shorthands, used here to designate Dominican Pesos. There is no peso symbol so $ is used and RD designates Rupublica Dominiicana vs. US vs. CDN.

Personally, I tend to use $RD pesos; like $100RD pesos.

Some may also use DOP to designate $RD pesos.

RD$= dominican money...(republica dominicana money)
US$=american money

Dominican money is in Dominican Pesos

American money is in US dollars

the $ is just used to designate money.

It really gets bizarre when English speaking Dominicans call pesos "bucks". :p
I just noticed that the other day when my downstairs neighbors son, living in florida, was talking to me,and saying 100 bucks, and 1000 bucks, meaning pesos..it took me awhile to get it,.....

Dominicans coming from the states refer to US currency as "pesos"....
Anyway the use of RD$ and US$ and CDN$ is pretty universal nowadays.
Most people don't know how to use ? to make the Euro sign so they write it out.
Not many keyboards have the pound sign either...
