Actually, AOL has an access node in the DR. I was forced to use it several times last year when my Tricom e-mail service failed me for long periods of time. Unfortunately, however, you do have to pay an hourly surcharge -- not as expensive as a long distance call to Miami, but annoying when you're paying the monthly fee anyway...
