Opening bank accounts in DR

I am a Canadian and was wondering what is involved in opening investment accounts in banks.I am not a resident and live in Canada.Thanks.

Are you thinking of becoming a resident then?? If not, why the interest in getting hard currency out of the country? That question might prompt caution on your part so reply by PM if you prefer. ~ Grahame.

If you are interested in bank accounts, there is really very little difficulty in setting them up. Have a reference letter from your home bank, your passport and the cash to put into the account. I have two US savings accounts and one chequing account, on which I do not write cheques but use more as a transient account. I am in the same position as you would be. Non-resident with accounts and property in the D.R.
