I'm looking to do some fishing between 7/27 & 8/2 near Sosua. Anything from a local motorboat to a hundred fifty footer. I'll pay my own way. I've done the Mels Tours trips but want to try something different.

I am NOT going home this time without some pictures of dead fish.
Any ideas?

thanks in advance,
ctRob

I wonder if you would consider going to Rio San Juan.
There's oodles of boats and fishermen there.
Surely you can hire them for a reasonable price, and the fishing might be better.
Certainly, the clarity of the water there is astounding.
Best diving and snorkeling I've ever seen.

Sure, never been east of Sosua but I'll give it a shot. About an hour by taxi?

So it sounds like I could just show up early in the morning and catch a ride on something?

thanks,
ctRob

That's the way I would play it, only you can get there by public car in 10 or 15 minutes more and save lots of bucks that you could spend on the fishing.
PS: Yes, it's approx. 1 hour East of us.

or you could just take pictures of yourself with someone elses dead fish?

Early in the day youll see them wandering around selling their catches at various restaurants and hotels or walking along the beach.

I'm sure for a small tip you can get a few photos with their fish and your wife will now believe your on a fishing trip!

Wow.
That's quite a conclusion you have drawn.
I thought the dude just wanted to get some good fishing in.
Is this an excuse you have used with your own wife?

Fish don't fry in the Kitchen...

Beans don't burn on the grill - - -

Are you trying to have evidence of the "Big One That Got Away"?

Have a good safe fishing trip!:cheeky:

Hey CT.
Looks like nobody believes you just want to go fishing, but I do.
I used to fish every chance I got.
Even had a small boat for awhile when I lived on an island near Montreal.
There is something so very therapeutic about floating on the water, chilling out, with the occasional thrill of a good catch.

PS: Wait 'till you see how beautiful the water is around Rio San Juan.
It's what dreams are made of.

No wifey, but my ex is starting to wonder why I go all the way to the DR to NOT catch fish...

How do you post pics on here? I'll have to show beads what it's all about...

He is/was a DR1 poster.
I believe he has a boat docked in Santo Domingo.
He made many controversial posts.

Nope, thats not/never was me.

I do own a boat, but it's landlocked in Pennsylvania & will never see water again...:pirate:

There are several sportfish that go out of Puerto Plata for the day, and they sell the trips by the person in Playa Dorado plaza. Boats are good, equipment is ok, and you?ll probably catch something. I think it?s about 70US for the day pp. Tight lines
