I would love to buy a tortetoise but I live in Puerta Plata and the pet stores here are very limited. Does anyone know of private person or a pet store in Santiago which I can contact to acquire one?

When you say you would like to buy a tortoise, do you mean the actual land dwelling reptile or do you just mean a turtle? I know where you can purchase red-eared turtles here in Puerto Plata, but I don't think anyone here sells actual tortoises. If it's turtles you're interested in, let me know and I can tell you exactly where to get them.

I just put a fresh water turtles into the Laguna at costanbar to replace the ones that were taken out..not a v good pet for kids they like to bite

painted turtles are/were for sale in an vetinary supply store in nagua. i dont know if they have any left

land turtles are called tortetoises I WOULD LOVE TO GET ONE FOR MY HOUSE

Can't you catch them somewhere??
