The link you have given is to Banco Popular in Puerto Rico, and has no relationship to the Banco Popular in the Dominican Republic. The name Banco Popular is used by dozens of unreltated banks.

According to my contacts at Banco Popular in the Dominican Republic, there is only one branch in the USA related to Banco Popular in the Dominican Republic, and it is in Manhattan and does not carry the name Banco Popular. I have e-mailed them. If they respond, I'll post the name, address, and phone number. Most all (if not all) banks have what they call corresponding banks (sister bank) in other states and countries. Your bank will help provide you with who their corresponding bank is. For example, Bank of America in California is the corresponding bank with Banco Reserva in the DR

you are right, now I remember. More than a year ago I did the same by myself, but later I saw BP/RD HP and now I mixed it up....next time I have a better look if I send a URL, sorry even to Mr. Ellison.

The solution to the problem is:

Banco Popular Dominicano has a related Bank in New York that also hadles the International VISA credit cards.

the name is POPULAR BANK & TRUST, LTD. and is located at. 152 W 57th street, New York, N.Y. 10019-3310

In the case of problems with the VISA credit cards issued by them you can call to 1 800 847 2911.

I understand that they also handle checking accounts in US$, but since they are "not really" a bank, they use a correspondent or agent Bank to handle that.
