I just got back from a wonderful moment of Dominican optimism as expressed by Ginned Beddgood in her book Quisqueya: Mad dogs and English couple.
My son--de crianza--..The ENT specialist that attended Matilda...got married for the second time tonight.
Hosnest to God, I could not have picked a more beautiful spot on this earth...way up in the mountains between Moca and Cabarete. An awesome place just too beautiful to describe.
Dean was there. Winds and rains as the clouds came over and over the place..But that did not hinder the proceedings...

Happy to say that the event was spectacular, and if you have the time and energy to invest, there are spectacular places to live in this country!!!!!!

Was the 'optimism' in the second marriage or doing it despite the weather..............? :).

All good wishes for the doctor's future happiness!!

P.S. Did you wear a suit HB?

Don't blame yourself too much Ladybird, ..... it was most likely a 'BY INVITATION ONLY' do.

As I recall on your previous post HB, you mentioned you were instructed to 'Wear A Suit'!! Now THAT I want to see!!

Congrats of course to the good Doctor & I hope to see he & bride shortly! - K of N C.

How little you know. As a matter of fact we gave people a lift there because of all the rain and were invited in, but because of the storm threat we declined.

It all looked splendid, HB, I hope you had a lovely time

Well There You go Ladybird, you DID have an invitation after all. As you say, what a pity you did not know about it being a wedding for HB's son because you would obviously have found the good man (HB) to be in a delightfully cheerful mood. ;)

Do I detect a certain lack of congruity between the two statements above or am I just being over sensitive to your use of the English language? :ermm: :cheeky: - Grahame.

You beat me to it Grahame.

The statements do seem to contradict each other.

Probably meant that she did not know it was Hillbilly and family.
(That?s one way out of the statements).

Yes you are right, we merely stopped on the road and gave people a lift to that event because they were getting wet. I dont know if that hall of celebration was HB's family wedding, thats why I asked him. Whats with all the attacks?? stop it, this thread is supposed to be about a family wedding.

No way anyone could have seen the wedding ! We were well off the beaten path (highway to Jamao) at a friend's weekend hideaway. What had started off as a little kiosk above a tiny spring has been turned into a sumptuous, widespread paradise over the past 5 years. Includes game room, bar, discotheque, house with 6 bedrooms, porches overlooking the valley to the east, manicured lawns, I mean the whole nine yards..

For the curious. Tie and jacket. Only one guest showed up in a chacabana. Many women in long dresses.

Regarding the "eternal optimism of the Dominican people" referred to above: I was referring to the idea of an outdoor wedding when i told him on Tuesday that it was going to be rough going on Saturday....But they went ahead with it anyway...

despite the weather, things went pretty well. One huge set of gusts was the worst part but it lasted for just a couple of minutes...

Women were unhappy with what the weather was doing to their hair.

Nice evening...

It all sounds simply splendid HB. :) Any chance of pictures?

Or failing that maybe Ladybird has pictures of the ladies in long dresses to whom she kindly gave a lift in the rain? Now there's Dominican optimism also...........all togged up in wedding gear and no transport in bad weather...........

They say if it rains during the ceremony, there's sunshine for the marriage. Congratulations to the happy couple.

Give him my congrats and say thanks again.

Matilda
The way your voice sounded yesterday on the telephone, you could probably SHOUT your congratulations to him from Juan Dolio & he would hear you. :cheeky::cheeky:

I take it power is now back for you? Why not PM the Old Curmudgeon & tell him direct or let him show the ENT boss man your message? - Grahame.

Not guests to the same wedding I venture to guess. In fact, I think I'll put money on that ;)

Many congratulations to the Doctor, Hillbilly!
