Default Satelite TV assistance in the DR

Moving to the Dominican in October.

Can you tell me who the satelite TV providers are?

Can I bring my current satelite dish with me and hook it up?

If not I have been told it would be less expensive for me to buy my satelite dish in the US and bring it with me to the DR.

What are the prices for satelite dishes in DR?

What kind of rates are being charged in the DR for satelite service?

Is Satelite the service any good?

What kind of satelites are used there?

What Janin is trying to point out to you, Rick, is that "the Dominican" is a person, not a country.

the guy was asking a simple question, and is clearly not as familiar with the language as you.........cut him some slack! I understood the question perfectly, given that he is using the DR1 web-site he's more than likely referring to the Dominican republic...duh!!!!!
For people that profess to live in the DR, one would suspect you would be a little more relaxed and helpful....your responses were unwarranted!

DR Rick, you will find that all satellite television comes from the major providers. Our expert, Eddie has retired but if you use the search function, you'll find a stack of older posts on the issue. Thing is, as I understand it, once you have a dish up and running, you're into the dark world of hacking the services to get a signal

I do believe that you are mentally handicapped, Mike.
The OP does not have a language problem.
His English looks fine to me.

As for cutting him some slack, you should cut us some slack too.

I am pleased to hear that you understood the question perfectly, yet you have no answers.
    Of what use are you?

As for professing that we live here, do you think we're faking it?
Maybe we live in Bangladesh and just come on to a DR website to play?
BTW: You rude post was unwarranted.

Default I Appoligize! I Stand Corrected!

Wow, never meant to insult anyone. Just trying to get a little information.

In my defense. When my friends are asked, who are from this beautiful country, where there from, they all respond "The Dominican"

But now that I have been disciplined for making an error in my grammar, can I get someone to assist me with the question at hand?

    Again, I apologize!

    I'll try again! With Corrections.

Moving to the Dominican Republic in October.

Can you tell me who the satellite TV providers are?

Can I bring my current satellite dish with me and hook it up?

If not I have been told it would be less expensive for me to buy my satellite dish in the US and bring it with me to the DR.

    Default Grey Zone

It all depends where one lives.
A lot of places have cable TV at reasonable subscription costs (300 - 500 RD$).
To bring a dish may be cumbersome because one needs large dishes here (up to 6 ft).
And as said, many providers operate in a grey zone thus the signal is not guaranteed...

OK, now that we know where you're moving to have a look at the thread again. There is useful information in there. Please use the search function as there is a stack of information on the board about this very specific topic.

Providers for installations? Which area? For signal, the same ones that you get in North America.

Don't know. What dish do you have?

There are alternatives in the DR and DR dishes work well for television. Installations here should be hurricane proof. What dish do you have? You'll have to figure out if your current dish will work and if it is worth while to pay freight to transport it to the DR. Why don't you first ask for quotes from some of the local providers?

You'll be getting the normal services that you get in North America, e.g., Dishnetwork. I believe it is. Sometimes a little weather interference but if you install well and point well and hack the service well, then it works.

You mean the satellites up in the sky? Those that Loral and Hughes and Pansat send up there? Why is this important?
