You would have to specify which region you are or will be in.
This is a big country.
And don't be so sure that they won't charge you for ATM service.

As usual, Rocky is right.

ScotiaBank in the DR is different than ScotiaBank in Canada (even though the Canadian bank owns the DR bank). Just because you are not charged a fee for using ScotiaBank in Canada does not necessarily translate to no fee in the DR.

I have B of A account in the US and exclusively use Scotia here because for me there is no ATM fee.....ever, unlike all the others. I understand they have some sort of agreement or tie-in.....I don't care, it's free.

If you make a withdrawal from a ScotiaBank ATM in the DR with a Bank of America debit card NO fee is charged.

There are many ScotiaBank branches in Santo Domingo.

Here's a list of branches nationwide:
Paginas Amarillas (List)

Note that the Paginas Amarillas website information is often incomplete.

If I remenber correctly, ScotiaBank bought all the branches and some of the business (credit card) that BanInter had at the time of the takeover by the Dominican Central Bank in 2003. They should offer plenty of locations.
